Third wave: Lagos, FCT, 10 others report 388 new COVID-19 cases, eight deaths

Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory and 10 other states reported 388 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, according to figures released on Monday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The health agency also reported eight COVID-19 related deaths. 

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Monday.

According to the agency, the 388 new cases were recorded from Lagos, the FCT, and ten other states.

Lagos recorded the highest numbers for new infections with 166 new reported infections, Akwa Ibom – 89, Rivers – 76, Oyo – 15, Edo – 12, Benue – 11, Delta – 7, FCT – 4, Ogun – 4, Kaduna – 2 with Gombe and Nasarawa reporting a single case each. 

The health agency said the 388 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 187, 023.

However, 168,455 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With eight COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,268, NCDC said.

It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
